High School - Tunkhannock Girls Tournament TUNKHANNOCK LADY TIGER INVITATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT The Lady Tiger volleyball team extends this invitation to you to participate in the 2008 volleyball tournament for girls high school teams at Tunkhannock Area High School and Middle School. Separate tournaments will be set up for ten (10) varsity teams and ten (10) junior varsity teams, so bring your JV along for the experience!! Junior High teams will be considered if the JV tournament does not fill. Matches will consist of two (2) twenty-five point games with a twenty-seven point cap. The top two teams from each pool will proceed to the elimination playoff. Tiebreakers will be determined as follows: 1st place (two teams with identical wins and losses) = head-to-head; match point differential; overall point differential; one 25 point game playoff; cap at 25. (Three teams with identical wins and losses) = overall point differential (team 1 receive a bye) followed by one 25 point game playoff between teams 2 and 3; cap at 25 2nd place = (two teams with identical wins and losses) one 25 point game playoff; cap at 25. (Three teams with identical wins and losses) = overall point differential (team 4 eliminated) followed by one 25 point game playoff between teams 2 and 3; cap at 25. Semifinal and final matches will be the best two out of three 25 point games with no cap. All PIAA and NF rules will apply. PIAA officials will govern the rules of play for the tournament. Six players in the varsity tournament will be selected for an all-tournament team by an anonymous group of adults/coaches appointed by the tournament director. The winners will be announced and a plaque presented to each prior to the start of the finals match. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR TEAM ROSTER TO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WITH YOUR ENTRY FORM (IF KNOWN), OR IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL For the varsity tournament: The first place team will receive a team championship trophy and 12 medals. For the junior varsity tournament: The first place team will receive a team championship trophy. Concession stands will be available throughout the day for everyone’s refueling needs. Tournament t-shirts will also be available in a limited supply at $15.00 each at the tournament site. In the event that shirts run out, we will take pre-pay orders and obtain additional shirts. Shirts will either be mailed to those ordering, or other arrangements will be made.
Camping areas will be restricted to the immediately adjacent hallways and corners of the gym in the High School, and the carpeted area in the Middle School. PLEASE INSURE YOUR TEAM CLEANS UP AFTER THEMSELVES PRIOR TO LEAVING. Any spills on the carpeted area of the Middle School must be reported to the JV tournament director immediately. In the High School, one set of bleachers at the end of the gym will be available for spectators for Court 2. Court 1 spectators can sit on the top of bleachers around the rest of the gym. In the Middle School, there will be adequate bleacher space to view both courts. There is limited space available for chairs in either gym. Food and drink, other than player water and sports drinks, are prohibited in the gym. Tables will be provided in the concession area. Again, spills of any kind on the carpet area in the Middle School must be cleaned immediately. Please do not leave your area without checking for this!! The tournament fee of $150.00 for each team entered is payable to Mick Goodwin, and is due on or before August 31st, but we would appreciate entries to be made prior to the end of the current school year if possible. REGISTER EARLY! The first ten teams to respond with the tournament fee for each tournament will be entered, so enter as soon as possible. A waiting list will be generated once each tournament has been filled. A full refund will be given if you request not to be placed on the waiting list. Following the tournament all teams on the waiting list will be refunded fully. Send the attached entry form along with your payment.
